This N' That Thursday

The back of my house faces west.  My deck showcases the most beautiful sunsets.  Here are some pics.

I know this isn't a sunset, but the clouds were so cool.

And of course a shot of Dunkin and Joey snuggling.......

This N' That Thursday-Martina McBride

Martina McBride Rocked.  The Concert was so awesome.  She is so down to earth and sweet.  I was not familiar with most of her songs, and I still really enjoyed the concert.  She is this tiny little woman with a really big voice.
The concert was at ACL and they recently put up a statue of Willie Nelson.

Across the street is Austin Rocks, a music/clothing store.  I like the sign.

Yes, I rocked the boots and the boot charms.  I was a happening chick.

So Saturday, I went to a composting class at Pioneer Farms here in Austin.  There was this HUMONGOUS prickly pear there.  There were still a few blooms on it.  I bet it was really beautiful when the whole thing was blooming.

Three Kitteh Tuesday

Ladies first.  Here is Dallas in one of her rare sweet moments.  She is so funny.  She jumps in my lap and complains the whole time I am petting her.

Here is Joey.  He just absolutely loves everyone.

Finally, here is Dunkin in one of his "I am ignoring you" poses.

Manly Monday

Today is about the boys.  Some time ago, I ordered some bow ties for the boys from SnoopCattyCatt on Etsy.  Since Joey is a tuxedo, of course I ordered him a red bow tie.  Here he is sporting it.  Tell me he is not the most handsome little man.

Sorry the picture is blurry, but the boy just wouldn't hold still.

Dunkin, on the other hand, is a blue boy.  He looks so handsome in blue, don't you think?

He was not at all happy with the whole bow tie situation.  He is definitely scowling at me here.  He was hiding under the dining room table.....

So I think I am going to enter them into Austin's most eligible bachelor contest.  Although they have both been fixed, so it will only be a platonic relationship.......

A short video showing how much Joey enjoys his scritches......he will roll back and forth...the boy loves his scritches......

This N' That Thursday

Guess what I am doing tonight?  I am going to see Martina McBride in concert.  My friend, A, who is a staunch country & western fan, has decided that I need to see Martina McBride (either that or he didn't want to go by himself to the concert).  So he bought me a ticket for my birthday (later in the month).   I'm trying to decide what to wear.  I will probably wear my boots...with my boot charms, of course.

These are Ariats.  They are the absolute most comfortable boots I have ever owned.  I love them.  They are pretty beat up, cause I wear them a lot.

After my mom passed away in 2010, my sister and I were doing some grief shopping, and we both got Ariats.  Every time I wear them,  I think of Mom.

I have been informed by A that you don't wear cowboy hats to indoor concerts, and since the concert is at the new Austin City Limits Live Concert Hall, I guess I will not be wearing my hat.  Oh well.  I did a previous post on the hat band that I made here.

I think I will wear a skirt, so you can see the boot charms.  I love them.  I got them at Canton.  Way cool.

So I will be rocking with Martina tonight.

Here is a pic of Joey catching some late afternoon rays.

Have a great Thursday, Y'all!!!

Miracle Monday

My niece, J, and her husband had their baby.  She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.  Baby E is breathtaking.  She is such a little miracle.  A teenie, tiny miracle.

I finally got to meet Baby E this weekend.  She is amazing.

Isn't she the most gorgeous baby in the world?

My sister and her husband are over the moon.  Their first grandbaby.  Niece K and Nephew D are pretty pumped also.  And J and her husband are ecstatic.  Baby E already has Daddy wrapped around her little finger.  It really touches my heart to see him look at her.  I know they will be awesome parents.

I can't wait to see what Baby E will be like as she grows up.

She really is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen.  I love her little lips.  I think babies have the cutest lips.  They remind me of little rosebuds.  So precious.  And they always smell soooo good.  Well, maybe not always......

Here is a video of Joey playing with some new catnip sticks as Dunkin looks on..  I apologize for my terrible video skills.

This N' That Thursday

What a cute little face.  Who could hurt this baby?  For the life of me, I just don't get it.

I have been reading a lot lately on Facebook about animals who have suffered cruelty at the hands of humans.  I'm sure it has been happening for some time, but the internet brings it right into my home and makes it so real.   I can not comprehend how anyone can purposely hurt an innocent creature like a helpless animal.  It makes my stomach hurt, and I am concerned that often the perpetrator is a child.

What has happened in that child's life for him to be so brutal and cruel to a helpless animal?

And what is society's punishment if he is caught? Most of the time it is simply a slap on the wrist.

What has happened to us, that we so little value life?  The inevitable cycle is that the child will often grow to kill humans.

I really don't know what to do, besides contribute to the chip-ins for these poor creatures.

The sadness of it all is really over-whelming.  What are we to do?  How do we teach our children kindness and respect for all life?

Sometimes it really frightens me.

Three Kitteh Tuesday

Today is two tabbies and a greybie.

Today I have one of my favorite pictures of the Rainbow Bridge Babies.  This is Button and Dusty.  Dusty was just a wee kitteh.  What an adorable pair.
Dunkin with his "I'm starting to get irritated at the amount of pictures you are taking of me." look.  Either that or his eye is on the camera string handle.

Cinco de Mayo Monday

There is an awesome event that happens twice a year here in Austin.  The Pecan Street Festival is an artistic bonanza in downtown Austin.  They close down 6th Street, a main thoroughfare in Austin, and hundreds of artists display their wares in booths.  A few friends and I decided to take the Metrorail train downtown instead of fighting traffic, and trying to find a parking place downtown.  It was the first time I had ridden the Metrorail, and was an experience.

There was some confusion on where to park at the Metrorail Station.  It was not clearly marked in the areas around the station that there was towing if you parked in the business' parking area.  I had to move my car to a very poorly marked parking area a block away.  This was the first frustration.

The map of the route was confusing, they talked about zones, but the map did not indicate what the zones were. Frustration 2.

It was quite hot in Austin on Saturday, and the stops were not shaded, although the ticket machines were..  Doesn't make sense in Texas.

We were baking by the time the train arrived.  There were no seats available, so we had to stand.  There were not adequate hand rails to hang on to in the train, so it was difficult to stand.  Luckily it was only 10 minutes or so to downtown.

We meandered through the booths, stopping frequently for libation.  As I mentioned, it was quite hot in Austin.  And it was also Cinco de Mayo.

Sixth street is also a hot spot for nightlife.  There are a lot of bars on 6th street.  We stopped in one for refreshments in time to watch the Kentucky Derby.

It was fun watching the festivities on the tv, and chatting with all the people around us.

All in all, a very enjoyable day except for the heat.

Oh, and what you wonder, did I buy?

A cat magnet.  My big purchase.  And a few libations.........

And check out these itty bitty paws.  I love Dunkin's spats.

Fantastic Feline Friday

Some fun photos today.

Her Majesty "She who must be served"  Dallas

Derby crawled into the Entertainment Center and made herself right at home.

These guys are real posers!!!!

They look the same size here, but Dunkin is actually a head taller than Joey.
